3G2 F4A
100% private — files never leave your device

3GPP2 Mobile Video and Adobe Flash Audio (F4A) exist for different jobs: 3G2 is the CDMA-era mobile video format — tiny, low-resolution clips from old feature phones. Convert F4A audio exactly like M4A — to MP3, WAV or anything else.

This converter runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your files never leave your device, nothing is uploaded, and there are no watermarks, sign-ups or queues. Drop in several files at once to convert them as a batch.

About the 3G2 format

3G2 is the 3GPP2 variant of the mobile video format family, born on CDMA networks (Verizon, KDDI) where 3GP ruled GSM sides. Structurally it is a cousin of MP4 carrying H.263 or H.264 baseline video with QCELP/EVRC or AMR audio.

It shares 3GP's fate: low-resolution clips trapped on old phones. Conversion to MP4 is lossless in spirit — the pixels simply move into a container every modern device accepts.

+Strengths

  • ✓Tiny files for its era
  • ✓Structurally close to MP4 — clean conversions

!Limitations

  • −Low resolution and quality ceiling
  • −Obsolete outside old CDMA phones

About the F4A format

M4A is MPEG-4 audio: AAC (or ALAC) inside the MP4 container, minus the video. It became the iTunes Store's format in 2003 and never left — Apple Music downloads, voice memos and most phone recordings are M4A. At the same bitrate, AAC sounds distinctly better than MP3, which is why 128 kbps M4A competes with 192 kbps MP3.

Support is excellent across Apple devices, modern Android, Windows and every streaming SDK. The one historical caveat: iTunes Store music bought before 2009 carried FairPlay DRM; everything since (and everything you record yourself) is DRM-free.

+Strengths

  • ✓Better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate
  • ✓First-class on Apple and modern platforms
  • ✓ALAC variant covers lossless needs

!Limitations

  • −Very old feature phones and players miss it
  • −Pre-2009 store purchases may carry DRM

Why convert 3G2 to F4A?

Think of it as moving your file to the container that fits the job. Low resolution and quality ceiling F4A works differently: Better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate If any of that sounds like your task, run the conversion — it takes seconds and nothing leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is this 3G2 to F4A converter really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.

Is there a file size limit for 3G2 to F4A?

The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.

Will the audio track be kept?

Yes. The audio is carried over and re-encoded to the standard audio codec of F4A, staying in sync with the video. If your 3G2 file has multiple audio tracks, the first one is used.

Does converting 3G2 to F4A re-encode my video?

Yes. The video is decoded and re-encoded with the settings chosen by the quality slider, which is what allows the format and size to change. For an archival copy, keep higher quality; for sharing, lower quality gives a much smaller file.
