100% private — files never leave your device

Convert WAVPCM files exactly like WAV — to MP3, FLAC or any target. If your files are still in AIFF format, this page is the shortcut: AIFF is Apple’s uncompressed audio format, the Mac-side cousin of WAV used in professional audio work.

This converter runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your files never leave your device, nothing is uploaded, and there are no watermarks, sign-ups or queues. Drop in several files at once to convert them as a batch.

About the AIFF format

AIFF is Apple's counterpart to WAV: uncompressed PCM in an IFF container, born with the classic Mac in 1988. It stores the same bit-perfect audio as WAV but carries metadata far better — iTunes-era tags, cover art and loop points all fit natively, which made it the default of Logic Pro and Mac-based audio production.

Functionally the WAV-versus-AIFF choice is platform history: same quality, same sizes, AIFF friendlier on Mac, WAV friendlier everywhere else. Converting between them is a lossless retagging exercise, nothing more.

+Strengths

  • ✓Bit-perfect uncompressed audio
  • ✓Better metadata support than WAV
  • ✓Native to macOS and Logic Pro

!Limitations

  • −Same bulk as WAV (~10 MB/minute)
  • −Windows tooling historically prefers WAV

About the WAVPCM format

WAV is the simplest possible audio file: PCM samples — the raw digits of the waveform — inside a RIFF container. CD-quality stereo (44.1 kHz, 16-bit) runs about 10 MB per minute, and studio work uses 24-bit/48–96 kHz without blinking. Every DAW, every interface and every phone records to it; nothing about it can be misinterpreted.

That perfection is why WAV remains the format of recording and editing: every sample is bit-exact, so processing, slicing and mixing never fight artifacts. And it is why nobody streams it — ten megabytes a minute is storage money, not delivery.

+Strengths

  • ✓Bit-perfect, zero-loss audio
  • ✓The editing and recording standard
  • ✓Supports hi-res depths and sample rates

!Limitations

  • −Enormous files (~10 MB/minute at CD quality)
  • −Tagging is an afterthought (BWF fills the gap)
  • −Impractical for streaming or phones-on-the-go libraries

Why convert AIFF to WAVPCM?

Think of it as moving your file to the container that fits the job. Same bulk as WAV (~10 MB/minute) WAVPCM works differently: Bit-perfect, zero-loss audio If any of that sounds like your task, run the conversion — it takes seconds and nothing leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is this AIFF to WAVPCM converter really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.

Is there a file size limit for AIFF to WAVPCM?

The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.

Will converting AIFF to WAVPCM reduce audio quality?

If WAVPCM is lossless, the output contains everything the AIFF file contains — no further loss is added. If WAVPCM is lossy, one recompression pass is unavoidable; the quality slider controls how much. Loss that already happened in the source file can never be undone by converting.

Can I convert a whole folder of AIFF files?

You can select many files at once and they are processed in a single batch. Output files land in one ZIP download when there is more than one result.
