ASF to PCM Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
ASF is Microsoft's streaming container from the Windows Media era — the box that WMV video and WMA audio usually ship in. Convert any audio to raw PCM for DSP pipelines, or wrap a PCM dump into WAV/MP3 to make it playable.
Because the whole conversion happens on your device, it is instant, unlimited and genuinely private — no accounts, no watermarks, no files on anyone's server. Multiple files are converted in one go.
How ASF compares to PCM

About the ASF format
ASF (Advanced Systems Format) is Microsoft's streaming container from the Windows Media era. WMV video and WMA audio live inside it, often with DRM in its commercial life. It carries the same 188-packet-ish streaming DNA as other late-90s containers, plus Microsoft-specific metadata and marker tracks.
Outside Windows it is effectively unreadable without special tools. The exit strategy is MP4: video re-encodes to H.264, audio to AAC, and the file joins the modern world. ASF files carrying DRM-protected streams remain locked — only unprotected content converts.
+Strengths
- ✓Native Windows Media streaming container
- ✓Holds WMV/WMA with rich metadata
!Limitations
- −Non-Windows support is poor
- −DRM-protected files are locked
About the PCM format
Raw PCM is audio at its most naked: 16-bit little-endian samples, no header, no metadata, no sample-rate label — just the waveform bytes. It is the lowest common denominator every DSP pipeline, telephony stack and embedded system speaks, which is why exports and lab tools keep asking for it.
Because the file carries no sample-rate information, consumers must agree on the rate out of band (8000 Hz telephony and 48000 Hz video are the common conventions). Wrapping PCM into WAV adds the missing header and makes the bytes playable anywhere.
+Strengths
- ✓Zero overhead — pure sample data
- ✓Universally understood by DSP tools
- ✓Bit-exact lossless representation
!Limitations
- −No header: sample rate must be known out of band
- −Unplayable directly in most apps
Why convert ASF to PCM?
There is a concrete reason this conversion exists: Non-Windows support is poor PCM sidesteps that — Zero overhead — pure sample data If that is your situation, the tool above settles it in seconds, entirely on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is this ASF to PCM converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Is there a file size limit for ASF to PCM?
The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.
Will the audio track be kept?
Yes. The audio is carried over and re-encoded to the standard audio codec of PCM, staying in sync with the video. If your ASF file has multiple audio tracks, the first one is used.
Does converting ASF to PCM re-encode my video?
Yes. The video is decoded and re-encoded with the settings chosen by the quality slider, which is what allows the format and size to change. For an archival copy, keep higher quality; for sharing, lower quality gives a much smaller file.
