100% private — files never leave your device

Convert to PDF when you need a fixed, print-ready layout that looks identical everywhere and cannot be accidentally reflowed or edited. If your files are still in CBR format, this page is the shortcut: CBR is a comic book packaged as a RAR archive — the older sibling of CBZ, everywhere on old comic mirrors.

This converter runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your files never leave your device, nothing is uploaded, and there are no watermarks, sign-ups or queues. Drop in several files at once to convert them as a batch.

About the CBR format

CBR is CBZ's older sibling: comic pages in a RAR archive instead of a ZIP. It predates CBZ's standardization and still dominates old comic mirrors and Usenet-era collections. Reading it requires RAR support, which fewer and fewer tools ship.

Converting CBR to PDF does two jobs at once: it frees the pages from the RAR container and combines them into one universally readable file. No WinRAR, no comic app — just the comic.

+ Strengths

  • ✓Huge existing comic library in this format
  • ✓Same lossless page images as CBZ

! Limitations

  • −Requires RAR decoding
  • −Older files may use legacy RAR compression

About the PDF format

PDF (Adobe, 1993; ISO 32000 since 2008) exists for one promise: the document looks identical everywhere, forever. Fonts get embedded, layout is fixed to the point, and a contract printed from a 2003 file renders the same as one created this morning. That fixed-layout guarantee made it the standard for invoices, manuals, forms, e-books and anything with legal or financial weight.

The same design is what makes PDFs stubborn. They are meant to be presented, not edited — text lives in positioning operators rather than paragraphs, so extraction and re-flow are approximations. Scanned PDFs are worse: pure images with no text layer at all until OCR enters the picture. Still, no other format comes close for final-form document delivery.

+ Strengths

  • ✓Pixel-identical rendering on every device and printer
  • ✓Fonts, images and color profiles travel inside the file
  • ✓Mature ecosystem: forms, signatures, annotations, encryption

! Limitations

  • −Hard to edit by design — even small changes need tooling
  • −Text extraction is an approximation, not a conversion
  • −Scanned PDFs are images without OCR

Frequently asked questions

Is this CBR to PDF converter really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.

How does the layout of my document turn out?

Pages keep their proportions automatically: images are fitted to A4-equivalent pages with sensible margins, and PDF pages are rendered at high resolution. You can preview the result right in the browser before downloading.

Is it legal to convert my CBR ebook?

Converting ebooks you legitimately own for personal use is generally fine. Removing DRM protection is a separate legal question that varies by country — this tool does not and will not break copy protection.

Will chapters and the table of contents survive?

Chapter structure and internal links are carried over wherever PDF has a place for them. The converter follows the book's own structure rather than flattening it into one stream.
