EPUB 2 to HTML Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
EPUB 2 Ebook and HTML Document exist for different jobs: EPUB 2 is the 2010 edition of the ebook standard — XHTML + OPF packaging that still accounts for a large share of legacy e-reader libraries. HTML keeps headings, links and tables intact and ready to publish on the web or convert onwards to other document formats.
Because the whole conversion happens on your device, it is instant, unlimited and genuinely private — no accounts, no watermarks, no files on anyone's server. Multiple files are converted in one go.

About the EPUB 2 format
EPUB is the open standard of e-books (IDPF, now W3C): a ZIP package of XHTML chapters, CSS styling and metadata, rendered reflowably on any screen size. Text re-wraps to your phone, your e-reader and your monitor; font size, margins and typography belong to the reader, not the publisher. EPUB3 adds fixed-layout support, media overlays (read-aloud) and rich semantics.
It is the universal format of every ebook platform except Kindle (Amazon accepts EPUB uploads since 2022 but converts internally). DRM is optional — many EPUBs are open, library books use Adobe ADE encryption. For text-centric books it is the right long-term choice; heavily designed print layouts survive conversion imperfectly.
+ Strengths
- ✓Reflows to any screen — the point of e-books
- ✓Open standard, future-proof, tool-rich
- ✓Accepted by every store and reader app
! Limitations
- −Kindle devices still need conversion to Kindle formats
- −Complex print layouts translate imperfectly
- −DRM variants need specific readers
About the HTML format
HTML is the markup language of the web itself. A document is plain text decorated with tags that describe structure — headings, paragraphs, lists, links, tables, images — and browsers turn that structure into a rendered, styled page. It is both a format and a program target: CSS styles it and JavaScript makes it interactive.
As a document format, HTML's strength is universality: any device with a browser displays it, text stays selectable and searchable, and links make it navigable. Its weakness is that rendering depends on the surrounding CSS and viewport, so it is a flowing document, not a fixed-layout one — printing or archiving an HTML page is inherently an approximation.
+ Strengths
- ✓Displays on every device with a browser
- ✓Semantic structure: headings, links, tables, media
- ✓Text remains selectable, searchable and accessible
! Limitations
- −Final look depends on CSS and viewport
- −Not a fixed-layout or print format
- −Untrusted HTML must be sanitized before display

Frequently asked questions
Is this EPUB 2 to HTML converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Is there a file size limit for EPUB 2 to HTML?
The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.
Is it legal to convert my EPUB 2 ebook?
Converting ebooks you legitimately own for personal use is generally fine. Removing DRM protection is a separate legal question that varies by country — this tool does not and will not break copy protection.
Will chapters and the table of contents survive?
Chapter structure and internal links are carried over wherever HTML has a place for them. The converter follows the book's own structure rather than flattening it into one stream.
