FBZ TXT
100% private — files never leave your device

FBZ is a FictionBook (FB2) ebook gzipped or zipped to save space — same XML inside, smaller download. Some libraries and converters emit it by default. Plain text is perfect for notes and data you want to paste anywhere; extracting PDF content to TXT makes it searchable and editable.

Because the whole conversion happens on your device, it is instant, unlimited and genuinely private — no accounts, no watermarks, no files on anyone's server. Multiple files are converted in one go.

About the FBZ format

FBZ is FictionBook with its traveling clothes on: the FB2 XML zipped (or gzipped) so the same markup travels in a smaller file. FB2 itself is the Russian-market ebook standard — structured XML with explicit body/notes/cover sections rather than laid-out pages.

Conversion is unpack-then-parse: the zip is opened in the browser, the FB2 inside feeds the standard FictionBook pipeline, and chapters rebuild cleanly into EPUB, text or HTML.

+ Strengths

  • ✓Same structure as FB2, smaller payload
  • ✓Self-contained cover and notes
  • ✓Standard on Russian ebook platforms

! Limitations

  • −Some tools refuse the double extension
  • −FB2 schema verbosity survives inside
  • −Rare outside regional ecosystems

About the TXT format

TXT is the floor of computing: a sequence of characters and nothing else. No headings, no bold, no embedded images — and because there is nothing to interpret, every editor, terminal, programming language and operating system ever built opens one. Modern files are UTF-8; older ones may be GBK, Latin-1 or Shift-JIS, which is the only surprise plain text can still deliver.

Its limits are obvious — no formatting means no structure — yet that is exactly why TXT refuses to die: logs, notes, code, READMEs, config fragments and data dumps all live happily as plain text. When you need the content and not the styling, TXT is the lowest-friction answer there is.

+ Strengths

  • ✓Opens absolutely everywhere, including terminals
  • ✓Tiny files, no parser, no corruption vectors
  • ✓Perfect for logs, notes and machine-to-machine text

! Limitations

  • −No formatting, structure or media whatsoever
  • −Legacy encodings can garble non-English text

Frequently asked questions

Is this FBZ to TXT converter really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.

Is there a file size limit for FBZ to TXT?

The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.

Will chapters and the table of contents survive?

Chapter structure and internal links are carried over wherever TXT has a place for them. The converter follows the book's own structure rather than flattening it into one stream.

What about images and covers?

Embedded images and the cover are extracted and re-embedded in the output where the format supports them. Heavily designed layouts may simplify, but the pictures themselves come through.
