IPYNB to ADOC Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
Jupyter Notebook and AsciiDoc (ADOC) exist for different jobs: IPYNB is the Jupyter Notebook format: a JSON document mixing markdown cells, code cells, outputs and metadata. It is the default medium of data-science work — every analysis, tutorial and Kaggle kernel lives in one. Convert ADOC exactly like AsciiDoc: into Word, Markdown or HTML.
This converter runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your files never leave your device, nothing is uploaded, and there are no watermarks, sign-ups or queues. Drop in several files at once to convert them as a batch.
How IPYNB compares to ADOC
| IPYNB | ADOC | |
|---|---|---|
| Structure | JSON + embedded outputs | Plain-text markup (==, [source], |===) |
| Best for | Data science, teaching, analysis | Technical books and large doc sets |

About the IPYNB format
The Jupyter Notebook (.ipynb) is the working document of data science: a JSON array mixing markdown cells for narrative, code cells for Python/R/Julia, and their captured outputs — tables, charts, errors. Every Kaggle kernel, tutorial and analysis memo is one.
Notebooks are awkward to read outside Jupyter, and impossible to hand to management as-is. Converting to Markdown/Word/HTML turns the narrative plus results into a shareable report — or turns a written report into a ready-to-fill notebook skeleton.
+Strengths
- ✓Narrative + code + outputs in one artifact
- ✓The lingua franca of data-science workflows
- ✓Executables — results can be reproduced
!Limitations
- −JSON is unreadable without Jupyter
- −Outputs bloat files and leak secrets
- −Merge conflicts are notoriously painful
About the ADOC format
AsciiDoc is what happens when lightweight markup grows up. Where Markdown stops at bold and lists, AsciiDoc carries title pages, multi-level sections, callouts, admonitions, xrefs and real table syntax — enough to author entire technical books without leaving plain text. The Git and Linux-kernel documentation ecosystems standardized on it, rendered through Asciidoctor.
The format's weakness is tooling gravity: AsciiDoc converters outside the Asciidoctor/Ruby world are scarce, which is exactly where Pandoc fills the gap. Converting to Word hands manuscripts to editors who live in Office; converting to Markdown feeds modern docs sites. The section structure and tables survive the trip.
+Strengths
- ✓Book-grade structure: sections, callouts, admonitions, xrefs
- ✓Powering Git and Linux kernel docs — battle-tested at scale
- ✓Stays readable as plain text
!Limitations
- −Heavier syntax than Markdown for casual notes
- −Converter ecosystem concentrated in Asciidoctor tooling
- −Multiple dialects (legacy asciidoc vs asciidoctor)
Why convert IPYNB to ADOC?
Converting makes sense where the strengths of ADOC meet what IPYNB cannot give you. Book-grade structure: sections, callouts, admonitions, xrefs Meanwhile JSON is unreadable without Jupyter One pass through the converter above puts your file on the right side of that trade-off.
Frequently asked questions
Is this IPYNB to ADOC converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Is there a file size limit for IPYNB to ADOC?
The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.
Does the conversion work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the conversion itself runs entirely inside your browser — you can even disconnect and keep converting. No file ever touches a server.
Will the layout of my IPYNB file be preserved exactly?
This converter renders your IPYNB content into ADOC with pages, proportions and images kept as close to the original as the target format allows. Use the preview before downloading to confirm it looks the way you expect.
