M2V to PCM Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
MPEG-2 Video Stream and Raw PCM Audio (16-bit) exist for different jobs: M2V is a raw MPEG-2 video elementary stream — DVD and broadcast video stripped of its container, the export format of choice of many editors. Convert any audio to raw PCM for DSP pipelines, or wrap a PCM dump into WAV/MP3 to make it playable.
Because the whole conversion happens on your device, it is instant, unlimited and genuinely private — no accounts, no watermarks, no files on anyone's server. Multiple files are converted in one go.
How to convert M2V to PCM
- 1
Select your files
Select your M2V video.
- 2
Convert instantly
The engine demuxes the container and encodes the audio track into your chosen format.

Download the PCM audio — the video track is simply dropped.
About the M2V format
M2V is the MPEG-2 video elementary stream — the video layer of DVDs and digital broadcast, exported bare by editors who want to mux it with audio separately. It is the professional half of a DVD's guts.
Muxing M2V with its audio into MP4 or MKV restores a playable file; the video often stream-copies without re-encoding since MPEG-2 data is already valid in modern containers.
+Strengths
- ✓Broadcast/DVD grade MPEG-2 quality
- ✓Often stream-copyable without re-encode
- ✓Standard editor export format
!Limitations
- −No audio inside — pair it before muxing
- −Large for HD (MPEG-2 efficiency)
- −Interlaced flags need care
About the PCM format
Raw PCM is audio at its most naked: 16-bit little-endian samples, no header, no metadata, no sample-rate label — just the waveform bytes. It is the lowest common denominator every DSP pipeline, telephony stack and embedded system speaks, which is why exports and lab tools keep asking for it.
Because the file carries no sample-rate information, consumers must agree on the rate out of band (8000 Hz telephony and 48000 Hz video are the common conventions). Wrapping PCM into WAV adds the missing header and makes the bytes playable anywhere.
+Strengths
- ✓Zero overhead — pure sample data
- ✓Universally understood by DSP tools
- ✓Bit-exact lossless representation
!Limitations
- −No header: sample rate must be known out of band
- −Unplayable directly in most apps
Why convert M2V to PCM?
Converting makes sense where the strengths of PCM meet what M2V cannot give you. Zero overhead — pure sample data Meanwhile No audio inside — pair it before muxing One pass through the converter above puts your file on the right side of that trade-off.
Frequently asked questions
Is this M2V to PCM converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Is there a file size limit for M2V to PCM?
The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.
Does converting M2V to PCM re-encode my video?
Yes. The video is decoded and re-encoded with the settings chosen by the quality slider, which is what allows the format and size to change. For an archival copy, keep higher quality; for sharing, lower quality gives a much smaller file.
Will the audio track be kept?
Yes. The audio is carried over and re-encoded to the standard audio codec of PCM, staying in sync with the video. If your M2V file has multiple audio tracks, the first one is used.
