About the ODP format
ODP is the OpenDocument presentation — LibreOffice Impress’s native format, built on the same zip-of-XML idea as PPTX. Files come from public institutions, lecture archives and anyone standardised on open formats.
As with PPTX, text extraction gives you every word in slide order, without the visuals. That is usually exactly what lecture notes and published deck archives are for.
+ Strengths
- ✓Open ISO standard, no vendor lock-in
- ✓Native to LibreOffice Impress
- ✓Same machine-friendly zip+XML
! Limitations
- −Text export drops layout and media
- −Fewer third-party readers than PPTX
About the PDF format
PDF (Adobe, 1993; ISO 32000 since 2008) exists for one promise: the document looks identical everywhere, forever. Fonts get embedded, layout is fixed to the point, and a contract printed from a 2003 file renders the same as one created this morning. That fixed-layout guarantee made it the standard for invoices, manuals, forms, e-books and anything with legal or financial weight.
The same design is what makes PDFs stubborn. They are meant to be presented, not edited — text lives in positioning operators rather than paragraphs, so extraction and re-flow are approximations. Scanned PDFs are worse: pure images with no text layer at all until OCR enters the picture. Still, no other format comes close for final-form document delivery.
+ Strengths
- ✓Pixel-identical rendering on every device and printer
- ✓Fonts, images and color profiles travel inside the file
- ✓Mature ecosystem: forms, signatures, annotations, encryption
! Limitations
- −Hard to edit by design — even small changes need tooling
- −Text extraction is an approximation, not a conversion
- −Scanned PDFs are images without OCR

Frequently asked questions
Is this ODP to PDF converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
How does the layout of my document turn out?
Pages keep their proportions automatically: images are fitted to A4-equivalent pages with sensible margins, and PDF pages are rendered at high resolution. You can preview the result right in the browser before downloading.
What about speaker notes?
The main extraction covers slide text; notes live in a separate part of the package and are not included in this export.
Can I convert a password-protected deck?
No — protected decks are encrypted in the package. Remove the protection in the original application first.
