RPM to WIM Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
Extracting WIM to ZIP exposes the files inside Windows images without deployment tools. If your files are still in RPM format, this page is the shortcut: RPM is the Red Hat-family package format: a lead/header structure wrapped around a compressed cpio payload.
iLoveConverter processes everything locally on your computer, which makes it private and fast: no upload wait, no server storage, no limits. Add as many files as you like — batch conversion is built in.

About the RPM format
RPM (RPM Package Manager — a recursive name if there ever was one) is the Red Hat family's package format: a 96-byte lead, signature and header sections, then a compressed cpio stream carrying every file. CentOS, Fedora, SUSE and OpenMandriva all live on it.
Extraction is the cross-platform escape hatch: 7-Zip unwraps the cpio payload in the browser, so scripts, binaries and config trees can be reviewed or repackaged without any Linux installation.
+ Strengths
- ✓Enterprise-grade metadata (deps, scripts, changelog)
- ✓Dominant across the Red Hat ecosystem
- ✓cpio payload extracts cleanly
! Limitations
- −Header format versions vary (v3/v4)
- −Payload compression differs by build (gzip/xz/zstd)
- −Scripts inside cannot be sandbox-verified
About the WIM format
WIM (Windows Imaging Format) is how Microsoft ships Windows itself: the install media and deployment images are WIM files, holding a complete filesystem snapshot with single-instancing (identical files stored once). It is Windows' answer to tar — file-based rather than sector-based.
Opening one without deployment tooling (DISM, 7-Zip on Windows) is awkward. Extracting WIM to ZIP exposes the files inside — drivers, scripts, provisioned apps — on any system, no Windows required.
+ Strengths
- ✓Windows' native image format
- ✓Single-instancing deduplicates identical files
! Limitations
- −Opaque without Microsoft tooling
- −Files inside may be Windows-locked
Why convert RPM to WIM?
Think of it as moving your file to the container that fits the job. Header format versions vary (v3/v4) WIM works differently: Windows' native image format If any of that sounds like your task, run the conversion — it takes seconds and nothing leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is this RPM to WIM converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Is there a file size limit for RPM to WIM?
The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.
What about folders and directory structure?
The full directory tree is preserved: folders stay folders, and deep paths arrive exactly as they were packed in the RPM file.
Are the files inside my RPM archive modified?
No. Contents are unpacked in memory and repacked into WIM byte-for-byte — the conversion changes the container, never the files inside it.
