TAK WAVPCM
100% private — files never leave your device

Convert WAVPCM files exactly like WAV — to MP3, FLAC or any target. If your files are still in TAK format, this page is the shortcut: TAK is a German high-ratio lossless codec — close to Monkey's Audio ratios with much faster decoding.

iLoveConverter processes everything locally on your computer, which makes it private and fast: no upload wait, no server storage, no limits. Add as many files as you like — batch conversion is built in.

About the TAK format

TAK (Tom's lossless Audio Kompressor) chases the best ratio-per-decode-speed point: it compresses close to Monkey's Audio while decoding several times faster, and its integer-only decoder is unusually robust against bit errors — an audiophile favorite in the 2000s Windows world.

The official encoder is Windows-only, which froze the ecosystem; ffmpeg reads TAK files losslessly, so converting to FLAC unlocks them for every other platform and player.

+Strengths

  • ✓Near-APE ratios, much faster decode
  • ✓Very robust against bit errors
  • ✓Pipes with cuesheets for albums

!Limitations

  • −Windows-only official encoder
  • −Development is slow/inactive
  • −Few converters besides ffmpeg

About the WAVPCM format

WAV is the simplest possible audio file: PCM samples — the raw digits of the waveform — inside a RIFF container. CD-quality stereo (44.1 kHz, 16-bit) runs about 10 MB per minute, and studio work uses 24-bit/48–96 kHz without blinking. Every DAW, every interface and every phone records to it; nothing about it can be misinterpreted.

That perfection is why WAV remains the format of recording and editing: every sample is bit-exact, so processing, slicing and mixing never fight artifacts. And it is why nobody streams it — ten megabytes a minute is storage money, not delivery.

+Strengths

  • ✓Bit-perfect, zero-loss audio
  • ✓The editing and recording standard
  • ✓Supports hi-res depths and sample rates

!Limitations

  • −Enormous files (~10 MB/minute at CD quality)
  • −Tagging is an afterthought (BWF fills the gap)
  • −Impractical for streaming or phones-on-the-go libraries

Why convert TAK to WAVPCM?

Frequently asked questions

Is this TAK to WAVPCM converter really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.

Is there a file size limit for TAK to WAVPCM?

The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.

Can I convert a whole folder of TAK files?

You can select many files at once and they are processed in a single batch. Output files land in one ZIP download when there is more than one result.

Will converting TAK to WAVPCM reduce audio quality?

If WAVPCM is lossless, the output contains everything the TAK file contains — no further loss is added. If WAVPCM is lossy, one recompression pass is unavoidable; the quality slider controls how much. Loss that already happened in the source file can never be undone by converting.
