TOML BZ2
100% private — files never leave your device

Convert BZ2 to ZIP or TAR when modern tools need a friendlier container. If your files are still in TOML format, this page is the shortcut: TOML (Tom’s Obvious Minimal Language) is the config format of Rust’s Cargo, Python’s pyproject.toml and many modern tools — clearly typed, human-friendly key/value tables.

This converter runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your files never leave your device, nothing is uploaded, and there are no watermarks, sign-ups or queues. Drop in several files at once to convert them as a batch.

About the TOML format

TOML (Tom's Obvious Minimal Language, 2013) is config written for humans who read diffs: explicit key = value pairs, `[section]` tables, unambiguous types, and comments everywhere. Rust's Cargo, Python's pyproject.toml, and many modern build tools standardized on it exactly because there is no implicit typing and no indentation to get wrong.

The explicitness costs verbosity on deep structures — four levels of nesting in TOML is a stack of bracketed section headers, where YAML would just indent. For flat-to-medium project configuration it is close to ideal; for deeply nested data, JSON or YAML remain easier.

+Strengths

  • ✓Unambiguous types and syntax
  • ✓Comment-friendly and diff-friendly
  • ✓Standard for Rust and Python project config

!Limitations

  • −Deep nesting gets verbose fast
  • −Rare in web APIs and serialization

About the BZ2 format

BZ2 applies the Burrows–Wheeler transform: slower than gzip but noticeably smaller, which is why Wikipedia database dumps and old source tarballs still arrive as .bz2.

Few GUI tools ship a bz2 reader these days, so converting the contents into a ZIP or TAR is the practical way to hand the payload to someone else.

+Strengths

  • ✓Better ratio than gzip
  • ✓Common in dumps and archives
  • ✓Mature, stable format

!Limitations

  • −Slow to compress and decompress
  • −Declining tool support

Why convert TOML to BZ2?

There is a concrete reason this conversion exists: Deep nesting gets verbose fast BZ2 sidesteps that — Better ratio than gzip If that is your situation, the tool above settles it in seconds, entirely on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is this TOML to BZ2 converter really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.

Is there a file size limit for TOML to BZ2?

The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.

What about folders and directory structure?

The full directory tree is preserved: folders stay folders, and deep paths arrive exactly as they were packed in the TOML file.

Are the files inside my TOML archive modified?

No. Contents are unpacked in memory and repacked into BZ2 byte-for-byte — the conversion changes the container, never the files inside it.
