WV to E-AC3 Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
WavPack and Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) exist for different jobs: WavPack is the hybrid lossless format — its unique lossy-plus-correction mode ships a small file that can be restored to bit-exact audio. Convert audio to E-AC3 for streaming-TV authoring, or E-AC3 tracks to MP3/WAV for editing.
Because the whole conversion happens on your device, it is instant, unlimited and genuinely private — no accounts, no watermarks, no files on anyone's server. Multiple files are converted in one go.

About the WV format
WavPack's signature trick is the hybrid mode: encode once into a small lossy .wv plus a tiny .wvc correction file — together they are bit-exact lossless, apart the small file plays like a high-quality MP3. It also offers pure lossless and pure lossy modes in the same container.
Full WavPack files decode losslessly through ffmpeg into FLAC or WAV; hybrid correction files are handled by the original encoder only, so a .wvc alone cannot be restored.
+Strengths
- ✓Unique hybrid lossy+correction mode
- ✓Fast decode, open source
- ✓Error-robust streaming modes
!Limitations
- −Ratios slightly behind APE
- −.wvc correction files are orphaned here
- −Hardware support rare
About the E-AC3 format
E-AC3 (Dolby Digital Plus) is the streaming-generation successor of the classic AC3: better audio at roughly half the bitrate, support for up to 15.1 channels, and the mandatory audio codec of UHD Blu-ray and most streaming-TV platforms. Netflix, Amazon and broadcast IPTV all ship it.
For authoring streaming deliverables, E-AC3 at 192-384 kbps is the safe standard. For editing or everyday playback, convert it to WAV/MP3 first — few audio editors accept it natively.
+Strengths
- ✓Better quality than AC3 at half the bitrate
- ✓The streaming-TV and UHD Blu-ray standard
- ✓Up to 15.1 surround channels
!Limitations
- −Poor editor/playback support outside TV pipelines
- −Lossy — not for archival masters
Why convert WV to E-AC3?
Think of it as moving your file to the container that fits the job. Ratios slightly behind APE E-AC3 works differently: Better quality than AC3 at half the bitrate If any of that sounds like your task, run the conversion — it takes seconds and nothing leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is this WV to E-AC3 converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Is there a file size limit for WV to E-AC3?
The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.
Can I convert a whole folder of WV files?
You can select many files at once and they are processed in a single batch. Output files land in one ZIP download when there is more than one result.
Will converting WV to E-AC3 reduce audio quality?
If E-AC3 is lossless, the output contains everything the WV file contains — no further loss is added. If E-AC3 is lossy, one recompression pass is unavoidable; the quality slider controls how much. Loss that already happened in the source file can never be undone by converting.
