XM to OGA Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
Converting OGA to MP3 sidesteps the device-support gaps of the Ogg family. If your files are still in XM format, this page is the shortcut: XM is the FastTracker II module format — the tracker scene's workhorse, with instruments, envelopes and effects baked into the file.
This converter runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your files never leave your device, nothing is uploaded, and there are no watermarks, sign-ups or queues. Drop in several files at once to convert them as a batch.

About the XM format
XM (Extended Module) is FastTracker II's evolution of MOD: 16-bit samples, volume/panning envelopes, arpeggio and effect columns — the tracker format that scored the demoscene of the late 90s and still powers chip music communities.
Rendering XM to MP3/WAV through libopenmpt's engine reproduces the song with its instruments and effects intact — the same interpretation FT2 users heard, normalized into a universally playable waveform.
+ Strengths
- ✓16-bit samples and rich effects
- ✓Standard of the late-90s demo scene
- ✓Accurate libopenmpt rendering
! Limitations
- −Not a waveform — interpretation required
- −Filter quirks vary between players
- −Compression is minimal
About the OGA format
OGA is the Ogg container's audio-only extension: the same Vorbis (or Opus/FLAC) stream as an OGG file, renamed to signal "this is music, not video". Wikipedia's audio files and old game rips commonly use it.
Functionally it is an OGG — and it inherits the same hardware-support lottery. Converting OGA to MP3 ends the guessing game on phones, car stereos and anything without an Ogg decoder.
+ Strengths
- ✓Open, royalty-free Vorbis audio
- ✓Identical quality to OGG
! Limitations
- −Extension confuses players less familiar with Ogg
- −Same hardware gaps as OGG
Why convert XM to OGA?
Think of it as moving your file to the container that fits the job. Not a waveform — interpretation required OGA works differently: Open, royalty-free Vorbis audio If any of that sounds like your task, run the conversion — it takes seconds and nothing leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is this XM to OGA converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Is there a file size limit for XM to OGA?
The only limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded. Files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine on a modern desktop browser; very large files simply take a little longer.
Will converting XM to OGA reduce audio quality?
If OGA is lossless, the output contains everything the XM file contains — no further loss is added. If OGA is lossy, one recompression pass is unavoidable; the quality slider controls how much. Loss that already happened in the source file can never be undone by converting.
Are tags like title and artist preserved?
Tag handling varies between target formats and this conversion focuses on the audio itself. For archival copies where tags matter, keep the original file; the converted copy is for playback and sharing.
