AI to PNG24 Converter
Processing entirely on your device — large files may take a moment.
AI is Adobe Illustrator's format — modern versions are PDF-compatible PostScript programs, which is exactly why Ghostscript can open them without Illustrator. Convert PNG24 images like any PNG — to JPG for photos, WebP for the web.
Because the whole conversion happens on your device, it is instant, unlimited and genuinely private — no accounts, no watermarks, no files on anyone's server. Multiple files are converted in one go.

About the AI format
AI is Adobe Illustrator's native format — and since Illustrator 9 it is literally a PDF-compatible PostScript program: open an .ai in a text editor and you will see a PDF header with Illustrator-private comment streams. That dual nature is why the format renders correctly in Ghostscript even without Adobe's own runtime.
Converting AI to PNG/JPG gives clients and web pages an instant preview; converting to PDF keeps every vector for print. Either way the file never leaves your browser.
+ Strengths
- ✓Industry-standard vector artwork
- ✓PDF-compatible — renders without Adobe tools
- ✓Keeps layers/artboards for round-trips
! Limitations
- −Private extension streams are Adobe-only
- −Newest features may not render in GS
- −Large embedded images bloat wasm memory
About the PNG24 format
PNG was created in 1996 as a free, open replacement for the patent-encumbered GIF, and it has been the reference lossless image format ever since. Pixels are compressed with the DEFLATE algorithm (the same one inside ZIP files), which reproduces the original image exactly — bit-for-bit — while supporting full 8-bit or 16-bit alpha transparency. Screenshots, logos, icons, charts and anything with text or sharp edges should live in PNG.
Because it never discards information, PNG files of photographs are several times larger than JPG — that is the price of perfection. Modern PNG encoders add filters per scanline that make screenshots and flat-color graphics compress surprisingly well. PNG also became the base of APNG, the animation extension that browsers play natively.
+ Strengths
- ✓Truly lossless — every pixel survives exactly as it was
- ✓Full alpha transparency with smooth edges, not 1-bit masks
- ✓Open standard, unpatented, with excellent tooling everywhere
- ✓Ideal for text, line art and flat-color graphics — sharp edges stay sharp
! Limitations
- −Photographs become several times larger than JPG
- −Base format has no animation (that is the APNG extension)
- −16-bit or high-resolution PNGs can grow very heavy
Why convert AI to PNG24?
Think of it as moving your file to the container that fits the job. Private extension streams are Adobe-only PNG24 works differently: Truly lossless — every pixel survives exactly as it was If any of that sounds like your task, run the conversion — it takes seconds and nothing leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is this AI to PNG24 converter really free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily conversion limits. The site is supported by advertising.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your files never leave your device — that is what makes it instant and private.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Anything with a modern browser works: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No software installation is required.
Will I lose quality converting AI to PNG24?
No — PNG24 is a lossless format, so every pixel of the converted image matches your original AI file. You can also adjust the quality/size balance before converting when the target format supports compression.
Are text labels converted?
Plain TEXT/MTEXT entities are drawn at their positions. Attribute-heavy blocks and dimension sets may render partially, since their styles are not carried over.
Is the scale of the drawing preserved?
Coordinates are preserved exactly. The output fits the drawing extents into the page or canvas, so measurements on screen are relative — the underlying coordinates stay true.
